The Plastics Policy Tracker follows the laws, regulations, standards, taxes, producer-responsibility schemes and treaties that shape plastics production, packaging, recycling and waste: in the EU and its Member States, the UK, the US (federal and state), China, and global negotiations.

It is written for recyclers, converters, brand owners, retailers and the people who advise them. A new issue is published every other Monday; the dossiers and calendar are updated as changes are verified.

How it works

An automated pipeline fetches official sources every day, flags relevant changes, drafts updates with a language model (DeepSeek) and runs them through four layers of checks described on How we verify. Everything, from source snapshots to prompts, review reports and quarantined items, is public on GitHub.
